It’s great to read about Whidbey teens like Cory Ackerman

Editor,

Thank you for publishing the feature on South Whidbey High School student Cory Ackerman (April 5). It is comforting to read about capable, intelligent and committed teens, and we are fortunate to have many like Cory in our community.

In addition to the many aspects of Cory’s life you covered, there is yet another side to this talented young man. I had the great pleasure of directing Cory and a dozen of his classmates in the first South Whidbey High School Drama Club production in many years last Spring, “Almost Maine.” So add actor to Cory’s resume. He and his fellow thespians created a wonderful and memorable show. Only his commitment to the Cross-County team kept Cory off the “Footloose” stage last fall.

Kudos to Cory and to The Record for recognizing him.
