Letter: Are billionaires offering to let you join them on Mars?

Editor,

As I’ve always envisioned insects far outlasting humans and chewing on our remains for thousands of years, I was astonished to recently learn that earth’s insects are rapidly becoming extinct.

I drew on sources you surely abhor and distrust such as the New York Times, Fox, David Dawkins, etc., as well as the full unexpurgated Bible, a reliable source for a zealous atheist Jew intent on identifying kosher and halal bugs.

In a recent unscientific survey of how long my South Whidbey neighbors expect our species, homo sapiens, to survive self extinction, I found an erratic consensus of the year 2099.

When Orson Welles warned us that Mars was about to invade, no one paid attention. On the other hand, Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk seriously consider fleeing earth to Mars.

Are these 1 percent billionaires offering you a ride to die with them of thirst, freezing, starvation, oxygen deprivation, toxic dust, cosmic rays and solar particles?
