Letter: IT made a great choice in picking Morrow for job

Editor,

I got a chuckle when I saw the front page of the South Whidbey Record today when I saw that Todd Morrow was selected to head the Island County transit program.

I haven’t seen or talked to Todd in several years, as our respective careers took us on different paths, so I hadn’t seen his face for quite a while — until I got the newspaper.

I have to say, however, that I think the transit board has made an excellent choice. Todd and I worked together at a law firm many years ago, and in a job where we had to occasionally deal with some difficult people and difficult decisions.

Todd was always one of the most intelligent and level-headed people at the firm, and I have always held him in high esteem.

As I recall, he and his family have devoted a significant portion of their lives to public service, which only adds to that esteem.

Mike Nortier did, by all public accounts, a commendable job of pulling the county transit out of a steep nose dive and turning it around. I was sad to hear that he was leaving.

While I don’t know the other candidates the county considered, it is hard to imagine a better choice to head the transit agency than Todd.
