LETTER TO THE EDITOR | How can Langley be the ‘happiest’ town but also have a drug problem?

Editor, I just read Wednesday’s paper with the two Langley articles in it. One was the “Happiest Seaside Town” story and the other was about the Langley City Council endorsing closing hours for Langley Seawall Park and the Whidbey opioid problem. This just doesn’t compute! One of these is a wonderful thing, “The Happiness Factor,” we all love happiness. The other is a story about fear and suffering, which we all would rather be free of.

Editor,

I just read Wednesday’s paper with the two Langley articles in it. I am wondering if we need to get together as a community and face these issues, with the city council, the mayor and the chief of police. It seems that all of us together could come up with some good solutions, that will benefit all of us and them.

My one other gripe is the bright white light on Second and Park. It is so bright that it makes you look at it and end up with a dangerous state of momentary blindness! Please keep the nice soft amber lights look for this town. There are plenty of bright towns other places, why not try to be mellow here.

Thanks,

MARILYN LOUSTAUNOU
