LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Kids can make a difference on Whidbey too

Editor, My name is Mel Watson and I am the director of Time Together Adult Day Services. I was contacted a couple of weeks ago by a mom from Oak Harbor who said that her two children wanted to have a lemonade stand to raise money for Time Together. I was so surprised and overwhelmed with warmth from this call, I could barely contain myself. “Really?” I said. “Such compassion and kindness from these young folks.”

Editor,

My name is Mel Watson and I am the director of Time Together Adult Day Services.

We chatted for a while about how wonderful these children were, and then continued on with our day. That phone call left me bubbling every time I thought about it. Fast forward a few weeks, and we receive a note in our mailbox with $98.73 in cash. The note simply said, “Donation to Time Together from Thinalyn and Ralph Ramier who had a lemonade stand in front of Haggen.”

I am constantly reminded of how wonderful people are. We live in a society of such loving kindness, and these kids are a wonderful reminder. Thank you Thinalyn and Ralph, you are shining stars in our community, and your act of kindness has rippled out to our Time Together family.
