Why doesn’t the Navy conduct this training at Selah Airfield at the Yakima Training Center?

It’s only 245 air miles away. At 750 mph, that’s only about 20 minutes each way.

The Army drives convoys from JBLM to Yakima on a regular basis; 163 miles each way, two-and-a-half hours each way.

The largest carrier is only 1,080 feet long. Selah Airfield is 4,500 feet long, only 1,000 feet less than Outlying Field Coupeville.
