You hit the nail squarely on the head with your editorial, “Filing week begins this Monday, but consider public office carefully,” regarding the need for citizens to carefully weigh running for public office. Indeed there is an awesome responsibility being an elected, whether the office is Langley city council or anywhere up ballot. Along with that responsibility comes a significant time commitment preparing for and participating in meetings, courteously interacting with the public, and doing all that with one goal in mind — doing your best for the community, both in the short and long term.
