Organized by Goosefoot, a local non-profit organization, upcoming community street dances showcase the diverse and talented musicians who call Whidbey Island home.

Hours for all dances are 6 to 8 p.m. and take place rain or shine outside the Bayview Cash Store. Family-friendly, with music appealing to all ages, each band is sure to entice all but the shyest up to the dance floor. Admission is free, with a charge for food and beverages. Attendees are also welcome to bring picnic dinners to eat on the grounds. Here’s the schedule:

Wednesday, July 10, South Whidbey Island’s favorite rock n’ roll band will perform its innovative and energetic original music. Enjoyable for all ages, the Western Heroes are dance-able, eclectic, original, and fun.

Western Heroes are Michael Licastro, David Licastro, Lorraine Newland, Larry Neubauer and David Malony.

Wednesday, Aug. 7, Whidbey’s ultimate garage band, PeTE, plays an energetic mix of rock, blues and R&B that noodle-arm dancers across Whidbey Island have come to love. Members include David Draper and Tommy Hoeflich on guitar and vocals, Donald Singleton playing bass, and Fredde Butterworth on drums and vocals.

Wednesday, Aug. 14, Deja Blooze plays a lively mix of blues standards and original songs rooted in the blues tradition. For five years, they have entertained music lovers on Whidbey Island in pubs, restaurants, cafes and art festivals. The band is a two-time selection for the Whidbey Island Center for the Art’s Local Artist Series. Members include David Gregor, guitar and vocals; David Gignac, guitar, harmonica, and vocals; Russell Sparkman, bass guitar; and Scott Small, drums.
