Port seals deal to buy rest of ferry parking lot

“A sales agreement has been reached between the Port of South Whidbey and Gordon Erickson, owner of part of the Humphrey Road ferry parking lot.

The agreement paves the way for the port to offer the entire lot to ferry users on a paid basis, which begins Dec. 1.

Port Commissioner Ken O’Mhuan said Monday the port will purchase Erickson’s portion of the lot for $285,000. The agreement was reached Friday, but final documents have not been signed.

Erickson declared the agreement in the public interest.”

“I preferred that the port and public own the parking lot,” he said Monday.
