South Whidbey High School band students win event

Three South Whidbey High School students placed first in the small brass ensemble category at the Washington Music Educator’s Association (WMEA) solo and ensemble contest on April 28 at Central Washington University.

The ensemble included Alec Chinnery (french horn), Liam Twomey (trombone) and Kari Hustad (piano).

Four band students also competed at the state level as individuals after placing first or second in a previous regional competition. They include: Mara Bush (clarinet), Hustad (trumpet), Annie Saltee (baritone saxophone) and Katyrose Jordan (alto saxophone).
