The Young Artist Awards competition supports emerging young musicians as part of the Classical KING FM education initiative in partnership with Seattle Chamber Music Society. The competition is in two categories, ages 6-13 and 14-20, and includes non-professional acoustic instrumentalists, vocalists, and chamber groups of up to nine people. One winner in each age category was announced last week, Olivia Marckx, 13, in cello and Sarah Hall,14, in violin.

As one of the 11 finalists, Madeline performed May 10 on KING-FM’s “NW Focus LIVE” program hosted by Sean MacLean in the Classical KING-FM studios. Her performance can be viewed at KING-FM online. The two final winners will perform in a featured live broadcast at 8 p.m. Friday, May 24.
