A section of Stewart Road in Freeland will be closed beginning Monday, Sept. 13, for about a week for repairs, county public works officials said.

The road will be closed between East Harbor Road and Dorsey Drive while crews realign the East Harbor Road intersection.

Messages on electronic boards at each end of the project will advise motorists of alternate routes, said Joe Araucto, project engineer.

The intersection realignment and asphalting follow the installation of a larger and realigned storm drain in the area that serves a significant portion of the southeastern section Freeland, he said.

The road project is included in the county’s six-year transportation improvement program and is designed to discourage commuter traffic through a nearby residential neighborhood, Araucto said.

For more information, call Araucto at 321-5111, ext. 5557.
