Two off-island scuba divers were rescued Sunday afternoon after their Zodiak craft began taking on water in wind-whipped waves off Possession Point, emergency officials said.

Island County Fire District 3 Assistant Chief Paul Busch said the district’s two marine rescue units responded to the call about 3 p.m.

Five emergency personnel manning a jet ski and another Zodiac reached the foundering craft about 300 yards out, and towed it to Possession Point Park, Busch said.

The two occupants were wearing wetsuits, and were uninjured, he said.

They were transported to the Clinton ferry dock so they could pick up their car at Mukilteo and return to retrieve their boat, Busch said.
