The South Whidbey School Board will meet in a special workshop this week to talk about conducting a search for a new superintendent of schools.

The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the school board meeting room on the primary campus at 5476 S. Maxwelton Road.

District Superintendent Fred McCarthy announced last month that he would retire at the end of the current school year. His last day will be June 30.

At tonight’s meeting, board members are expected to discuss the options for conducting a search for a new superintendent. Board members have previously said they need to decide soon whether an interim superintendent should be hired, or if the district should launch an extensive search for a permanent replacement for McCarthy.
