Classes in the South Whidbey School District have been canceled today due to the overnight snowstorm.

The heaviest snowfall was reported in the Langley area and near Clinton. Four to five inches of snow fell overnight in the Lone Lake area, and three inches or more was reported in parts of Scatchet Head.

Bus service had been impacted slightly by last night's snow; at 8:40 a.m. today, Island Transit officials said Route 5 buses would not go down Bercot Road near Freeland.

Many neighborhood streets on the South End had not yet been plowed by 9 a.m, but warming temperatures was turning most of the snow on local roads to slush. Highway 525 was wet, with no snow on the roadway, and traffic was normal.
