The election for a seat on the board of supervisors for the Whidbey Island Conservation District that was set for February has been canceled due to a lack of challengers, district officials said.

The election was planned for Feb. 8. Conservation district officials said that only one person filed for the position — Wendy Hilborn, the incumbent — by the filing deadline, so there will be no election. No poll site, mail or absentee balloting will be performed.
