The Whidbey Island Conservation District will host a designated forest planning workshop later this month at the Deer Lagoon Grange Hall.

Residents who are interested in forest land property-tax reduction programs are encouraged to attend the free workshop. The session is 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 21. The talk will cover tax designations for open space timber land and designated forest land, and attendees can learn how to write or update timber management plans to meet current requirements.

The workshop includes classroom presentation, informational handouts and a site visit to a local, managed forest.

The Deer Lagoon Grange is located at 5142 Bayview Road.
