Price of gas finally falls below $4 on South Whidbey

BAYVIEW - Motorists have finally gotten a little relief on South Whidbey: Gas prices fell below $4 on Wednesday, dropping four cents to $3.99 per gallon of regular unleaded gas.

The cost of a regular gallon of gas hit $4 in mid-April on South Whidbey, and stayed there for 53 days. In the Seattle area, gas prices have been below $4 for more than two weeks.

Nationwide, the average cost of a gallon of regular gas was $3.74 on Wednesday, according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report, while in Washington, it was $3.90.

The current average price in the Seattle-Everett-Bellevue metro area is $3.916 for a gallon of regular.
