Members of American Legion Post 141 will properly dispose of unserviceable American flags on Flag Day, Tuesday, June 14, said Andy Campbell, Post 141 Americanism chairman.

Unwanted flags can be brought to the Legion hall, where they will be burned in the proscribed manner by Legionnaires beginning at 7 p.m., assisted by local members of the Boy Scouts, Campbell said.

The flag-burning ceremony will be held in front of the post, located along Highway 525 in Bayview.

The Legion’s Americanism program is designed to educate about the proper courtesies to be shown the flag, Campbell said.
