Two people were hurt after a driver went off the road in Clinton Sunday night and hit a tree.

According to the State Patrol, Bryce Nelson, 18, of Mount Vernon was driving west on Campbell Road just before 9:30 p.m. when his 2000 Oldsmobile crossed the centerline near Windfall Road, left the roadway hit a tree, then came to rest in the other lane.

Nelson and a 15-year-old passenger were injured. He was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, while the female passenger was taken to Whidbey General Hospital in Coupeville.

Speed was a factor in the crash, and the State Patrol said possible charges are pending.
