Veterans Stand Down in Freeland

The Veterans Resource Center in Freeland will host a Veterans Stand Down from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 23. All era veterans are welcome.

There will be free veterans screenings and referrals (veterans should bring a DD-214, Discharge, VA card or retired military ID).

There will be information on Veterans Administration services, enrollment and benefits; VA employment and home loan counselors; WorkSource; hearing/vision screening; Mental Health/PTSD; medical/dental screening; Island County Veterans Services; and VFW/American Legion representatives.

The event also includes free haircuts and a free pet wash.

Support services will be available for family members.

There will also be a barbecue, live music, demos and giveaways.

The Veterans Resource Center is located at 1796 Main St. For more information, call 331-8081.

The event is supported by the VRC, Wells Fargo Bank, Island County Medical Resource Corps, Seattle VA Medical Center, M-Bar-C Ranch, Volunteers of America, American Legion, VFW, Scout Troop 57, Tiger Martial Arts and Healthy Pet.
