A suspicious fire destroyed recently delivered portable toilets at Dave Mackie Park early Friday morning.
Island County Fire District 3 officials said the cause was undetermined but suspicious.
No one was injured in the fire.
Either three or four portable toilets were destroyed about 2:45 a.m. Fire district officials said the exact number was difficult to determine because of the destruction. Deputy Chief Mike Cotton, the responding incident officer, had yet to hear from the owner of the toilets on how many had been delivered to the county park.
The fire spread to the storage unit and the former restroom building at the park. Cotton said the concrete building is now unsafe.
The historic wooden bleachers adjacent to the building, however, are damaged but intact. A dozen firefighters from stations 32, 33 and 36 responded to the scene and knocked down the fire before it spread.
