The two thieves who grabbed bottles of liquor off the shelves at the Clinton Liquor Store on Saturday, July 30 and made a run for it have been arrested, the Island County Sheriff's Office announced Monday. Detective Ed Wallace said the sheriff's office received a tip on the identities of the two men a few hours after a surveillance camera photo of the pair was published online on the South Whidbey Record's website. Wallace said detectives used the information from the tip and located booking photos for the names provided and positively identified the suspects as Christopher Stockdale, 21, of Seattle and Michael Weinert, 22, of Marysville.

Both suspects are being charged with third-degree theft; the total loss to the store is approximately $102.

Wallace said additional tips were received Monday morning that identified the thieves as Stockdale and Weinert.

Wallace said the sheriff’s office would like to thank the South Whidbey Record and all the people who provided information leading to the identification of the suspects.
