Island County is looking for volunteers from South Whidbey who are interested in serving on the Island County Fair Association Board of Directors.

Applications are being taken to serve in the director position for the South End; the term for the current fair board director, Dan Ollis, expires on Oct. 8.

Applicants must reside within the boundaries of the South Whidbey School District. The term will run for three years, expiring Oct. 8, 2014.

The Fair Association Board of Directors consists of 11 members, and three are appointed directly by county commissioners from residents of the three respective Whidbey Island school districts.

Appointed directors need not be members of the fair association and may serve no more than two consecutive terms of three years, unless the position cannot otherwise be filled.

Interested individuals should provide a letter of interest and statement of qualifications by mail, email or fax to Island County Board of Commissioners, Attn: Pam Dill, Re: Fair Association Board of Directors Vacancy, PO Box 5000, Coupeville, WA 98239. The fax number is 360-679-7381 and email applications should be sent to pamd@co.island.wa.us.

The deadline for applications is 4:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12. For additional information, call 360-679-7353 or e-mail pamd@co.island.wa.us.
