Port commissioners for the Port District of South Whidbey will be hold a special meeting this morning to review the draft preliminary budget for 2012 and talk about harbor issues.

The meeting will follow a workshop format and will be held at 9 a.m. in the port office conference room, located at 1804 Scott Road in Freeland.

The meeting is open to the public, but public participation is not on the agenda. Port officials said the meeting has been scheduled primarily to let port commissioners review and discuss the draft budget in detail prior to its issuance.

After the board's review, the draft budget will be available from the port office or on the port's website on Wednesday, Sept. 28.

A public hearing on next year's spending plan has been set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11. That port meeting will be held in the meeting room of the South Whidbey Parks & Rec District office at 5475 Maxwelton Road.
