The annual blessing of the animals returns to South Whidbey this Sunday.

St. Augustine’s in-the-Woods Episcopal Church invites pet owners to the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9.

Owners are welcome to bring dogs on leashes, cats in pet carriers and other pets in appropriate containment.

The Whidbey Animals’ Improvement Foundation and Oasis representatives will attend and there will be a chance to adopt some cats.

Veterinarian Lynn Robin will also be there to answer pet care questions.

The church is located at 5217 Honeymoon Bay Road in Freeland.
