SWHS finds baseball coach
October 25, 2011 · 4:40 PM
The South Whidbey varsity baseball team will soon have its first new head coach in more than a decade.
South Whidbey High School assistant principal and athletic director Scott Mauk offered Jeff Hodson the position this week.
“We really like the skill set that Jeff has to bring to the position in terms of organization and coaching experience, and the emphasis on character building,” Mauk said. “We really feel like he’s a player’s coach, but he has very black-and-white boundaries.”
Hodson is the brother of Falcon football co-head coach Mark Hodson. His appointment is expected to become official after the South Whidbey School Board votes on the district’s personnel report at its meeting Wednesday, Oct. 26. It will end a four-month search to replace former coach Dave Guetlin, who resigned to spend more time with his family.
