Whidbey residents awoke to flashing alarm clocks Wednesday morning thanks to a brief power outage overnight.

A Puget Sound Energy spokesperson said at a crossarm on a power pole broke near March Point in Skagit County causing the power on Whidbey to go out for only a few seconds.

Because the power outage was so brief, it is difficult to get an accurate number on the homes affected by the quick power outage, although the New-Times heard reports islandwide. Repairs have been made on the pole.
