Old park trailer will be removed from Community Park

November 19, 2011 · 10:50 AM

South Whidbey parks commissioners have decided to get rid of the old storage trailer near the main entrance to South Whidbey Community Park.

District officials said they have rising concerns over the safety of the trailer, which was acquired by the parks district from Island County in the early 1990s. The  district said the trailer leaks and has significant mold and mildew issues, and the outer shell of the structure has also become dislodged from its base.

Park commissioners have talked about donating the trailer to Fire District 3 so firefighters can use it in a practice burn.

If fire district commissioners approve, the trailer might be torched for training as early as February.
