Island County wraps up work on property taxes
November 23, 2011 · 7:48 AM
The processing of property tax payments was completed in the county treasurer’s office in record time this year, said Island County Treasurer Ana Maria d. Nuñez.
The speedy finish was made possible by an electronic remittance processor coupled with the new property tax program and the work of a determined staff and a group of volunteers.
Nuñez reminded property owners who have not paid their 2011 property taxes that an additional 1-percent interest and 8-percent penalty will be assessed on any unpaid 2011 property tax balance as of Dec. 1.
To avoid the additional fees, payment must be paid or postmarked by Nov. 30.
