High wind watch in effect for Thanksgiving holiday

November 23, 2011 · 9:19 AM

The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a high wind watch for the Admiralty Inlet area and other parts of the Northwest interior.

The wind watch will remain in effect from late Wednesday through Thursday afternoon.

South to southeast winds up to 30 to 40 mph are expected, with gusts up to 60 mph possible, according to the National Weather Service.

The high wind watch means there is a potential for a "damaging wind event." The peak winds are expected in the afternoon hours on Thanksgiving.
