Wind advisory in effect today and tomorrow for Whidbey Island

The National Weather Service in Seattle issued a wind advisory early Tuesday for Admiralty Inlet northward, which includes Whidbey Island, and the north and central Washington Coast. Forecasters warn that power outages are possible.

The advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4.

The strongest winds are expected Tuesday evening. Forecasters expect southwest winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

Wind advisories are issued when sustained winds of 30 to 39 mph or gusts of 45 to 57 mph are likely.
