Three offer to join Langley board

Three people have volunteered to fill the seat left vacant on Langley’s Planning Advisory Board by the departure of former chairman Jim Sundberg.

Sundberg left the PAB after winning election to the Langley City Council in November.

The trio of applicants are Craig Carty, who currently serves as an alternate to the PAB; Dominique Emerson, who retired from a career in computer engineering that included jobs with Convergent Technologies and Bell Laboratories and now runs a custom landscape design company in Langley; and Bob Barr, a senior vice president with Acquity Group, a company based in Chicago, Ill., and a former vice president and general manager for Blockbuster.

Langley Planning Director Jeff Arango said Monday that Mayor Larry Kwarsick will appoint the new board member, and it’s expected that Carty will be moved to a regular position on the PAB, with one of the other volunteers being tapped to serve as an alternate.
