List narrowed for Langley's new city attorney

February 13, 2012 · 8:30 AM

Langley officials have narrowed the list of finalists for the job of city attorney.

The final list includes the law firms of Lighthouse Law Group of Seattle; Dionne & Rorick of Seattle; Ogden, Murphy, Wallace of Seattle; and Kenyon Disend of Issaquah.

Interviews with the candidates are expected to be scheduled soon.

Nine law firms expressed interest in a contract for legal services. The city’s current legal advisor, Weed, Graafstra & Benson, Inc. did not submit a proposal. The law firm, based in Snohomish, has been the subject of much criticism in recent years over its handling of the Langley Passage project and other matters.

Proposals were reviewed by a panel that included Mayor Larry Kwarsick, Councilman Hal Seligson, Councilman Bruce Allen, Public Works Director Challis Stringer and Director of Finance-City Clerk Debbie Mahler.
