March 6, 2012 · Updated 3:36 PM

The South Whidbey School Board will review an energy audit of its facilities for ways to save money and avoid layoffs.

The school board will meet at 6:30 p.m. today, March 7, to consider a grant for energy efficiency upgrades from the state Superintendent of Public Instruction’s office.

After the business meeting, the school board will meet for a workshop on four new policies.

The South Whidbey School District is looking into defining the school board’s operations, giving school credit for competency and proficiency, outlining excused and unexcused absences and detailing its bid requirements.

The school board meeting is in the board room at South Whidbey Primary Campus, located at 5476 S. Maxwelton Road in Langley.
