PTSA seeks Acorn nominees

March 20, 2012 · Updated 2:20 PM

The South Whidbey School District PTSA is accepting nominations for the Golden Acorn and Outstanding Educator awards.

This is an opportunity for students and staff to recognize a volunteer or a staff member that has surpassed their obligations and excels at what they do daily.

The Golden Acorn award is offered by the Washington State Parent Teacher Association in recognition of a volunteer who has given outstanding service to all children in the school community.

The Outstanding Educator Award, formerly known as the Golden Apple, recognizes educators who exceed their job expectations to improve learning. An outstanding educator could be a teacher, assistant, custodian, bus driver, administrator or community member.

Nomination forms are available in the South Whidbey High School, Langley Middle School and South Whidbey Elementary School main offices and on the high school website. Submissions are due no later than Friday, March 30 and may be turned in at the high school office.

South Whidbey’s PTA will host the 2012 Golden Acorn/Outstanding Educator awards at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 3.
