Volunteers needed for lighthouse

The Washington State University Admiralty Head Lighthouse Program is currently looking for new volunteers to serve as docents, gift shop staff and to serve as tour guides at Fort Casey.

The venerable, historic lighthouse has long been a fixture at Fort Casey State Park, which is located next to the Coupeville-to-Port Townsend ferry terminal.

No experience is necessary. If you enjoy talking with people and sharing history, this job is for you. Docent training will be held this spring and conducted through WSU Island County Extension.

Scheduling for the 2011 season has begun and volunteers are needed to operate the summer programs.

For more information, contact program coordinator Julie Pigott at or call 360-240-5584 or 321-5111 ext. 5540.
