FREELAND - Commissioners of South Whidbey Fire/EMS unanimously agreed to seek a 15-cent levy increase in the General Election.

The commissioners of South Whidbey's fire protection district approved the resolution 3-0 Thursday evening. Fire Chief Rusty Palmer had previously stressed the need to seek an increase in maintenance and operations funding, which comes from property taxes on the South End.

The levy increase will be on the Nov. 6 ballot.
