Whidbey Island Community Education Center advances finances
June 26, 2012 · Updated 2:40 PM
The Whidbey Island Community Education Center took another step toward becoming a reality. Until the continuing learning group manages its own finances, the South Whidbey School District will act as its accountant.
The education center is designed to offer courses for adults and post-graduates. The school district will be its fiscal agent until Sept. 1. In return for its accounting services, the education center will reimburse the district up to 5 percent of a grant from the Sparkplug Foundation. The education center applied for a grant between $5,000 and $10,000, which means the school district will receive at most $500 and at least $250 for holding the grant in its account.
