Whidbey Triathlon closes some roads

Whidbey Triathlon organizers and the South Whidbey Parks & Recreation District ask drivers to exercise extreme caution when encountering runners and bicyclists along the race’s routes.

The following road restrictions will be in effect to facilitate the safety of runners and bicyclists during the Whidbey Island Triathlon on Saturday, Aug. 4:

Lakeside Drive closed between Traverse Road and Pintail Road from 8 to 11:30 a.m.; Traverse Road closed from 9:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.; no left hand turns from northbound Bayview Road onto Andreason Road from 10:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; DeBruyn Road closed between Saratoga Road and Third Street; and Second Street closed between Park and DeBruyn.

In addition, drivers will encounter runners and bicyclists using the following routes from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 4:

Lone Lake Road between Andreason and Saratoga roads; Goss Lake Road between Traverse and Lone Lake roads; Saratoga Road between Lone Lake and Park roads; DeBruyn Road between Saratoga Road and Third Street; Third Street/Brooks Hill Road/Bayview Road between DeBruyn and Andreason roads; Park Road between Saratoga and Camano roads; Camano Avenue/Langley Road between Park Road and Sports Complex Park; and Maxwelton Road between Langley Road and South Whidbey High School.
