Early morning crash claims Freeland man

A Freeland man was killed in a car accident on South Whidbey early Sunday morning.

The Washington State Patrol has identified the deceased as 21-year-old Daniel L Torget. According to a press memo, he was driving alone and died at the scene.

The accident happened just after 2 a.m. Torget was eastbound on Fish Road in a 2004 Mazda 4D and traveling at a high rate of speed, the memo said. As the vehicle approached Garden Lane, it left the roadway to the left and struck a power pole, the release said

The cause of the accident is under investigation. Torget’s next of kin have been notified by the Island County Sheriff’s Office.
