Island County burn ban lifted

Persistent rain led Island County Sheriff Mark Brown to lift the burn ban today.

The burn ban has been in effect since Aug. 17. Fires less than 4 feet in diameter do not require a burn permit, and outdoor recreational cooking fires in established fire pits are allowed. However, open burning requires a permit by calling the Fire Warden at 360-391-0392. Burn barrels are illegal in Washington.

Anyone with questions about open burning may call the Island County Fire Warden’s Office.
