October 19, 2012 · Updated 5:50 PM
A settlement was reached between a former South Whidbey Fire/EMS volunteer and the fire protection district.
The five-year volunteer was terminated more than 18 months ago after learning that he improperly used a district gas card. South Whidbey Fire/EMS filed charges with the Island County Prosecutor’s Office, which reached a restitution settlement for $3,000.
“He just made a bad choice,” said South Whidbey Fire/EMS Chief Rusty Palmer.
