A driver was injured in a two-car accident on Highway 525 in Greenbank on Thursday, Nov. 15.

The Washington State Patrol reported that 20-year-old Rogelio Hernandez-Ramirez of Oak Harbor was turning left in a 1994 Lincoln Town Car onto Highway 525 from a private driveway when the accident occurred.

Hernandez-Ramirez’s vision was obstructed by a parked car. He drove out into the highway and struck an oncoming 1997 Subaru Impreza driven by 49-year-old Anthony Newbauer of Clinton.

The collision was reported at 12:50 p.m.

Newbauer was injured and transported to Whidbey General Hospital for treatment.

Newbauer’s car sustained about $600 in damages. The Lincoln sustained $1,500 in damages and was driven from the scene.

The report states that the cause of the accident was “failing to yield right-of-way.” Hernandez-Ramirez was cited.
