Local golf course has not yet sold
June 25, 2008 · Updated 6:21 PM
The Island Greens Golf Course and Driving Range is for sale.
Current owners Karen and Dave Anderson would like to preserve the popular links as a 9-hole golf course. The Andersons have turned down offers from potential buyers who wanted to purchase the property to build homes on the land.
Developers had eyed the property, with plans to divide the 31 acres into 5-acre parcels for development.
The golf course is for sale, but we really would like to keep it a golf course, Karen Anderson said.
We feel theres a real niche for affordable golf on the island. Its fun for locals and tourists alike, she said.
A round of golf can be completed in an hour and a half and the course is friendly for beginners, but still challenging from the back tees for better golfers.
The golf course, located in Clinton on French Road, is highly regarded beyond the island. It was rated one of the areas best Par 3s by
The Seattle Times.
Islanders have heard rumors the golf course was sold, and one person even asked her if she was the new owner, Anderson said.
The Andersons want to sell the golf course to enjoy retirement and be free of the large and small details of running a small business that is open every day of the year, Anderson said.
