South Whidbey Fire/EMS commissioners have less than a month to consider if they want to keep their fire chief next year.

Fire Chief Rusty Palmer will have his contract ready for approval by the Jan. 10 fire commissioners meeting. Palmer’s original contract in 2009 was for a base salary of $95,500, which increases to about $99,000 if the commissioners approve.
