Joint Langley, HUB vans explored
January 18, 2013 · Updated 2:50 PM
Shuttle service may look more like van trips in Langley.
The idea was proposed to enter a joint venture with the HUB to operate 20-passenger vans by Councilman Bruce Allen, who is also a HUB board member and volunteer. Allen said the costs would be for insurance, fuel and maintenance of the vans, which would not require a special driver’s license to operate.
“Anybody who wants to use those things — a licensed driver — can,” Allen said. “They’re a gift, they (parks and recreation) want to get rid of them at no charge.”
The HUB is a youth hangout in downtown Langley. It operates three days a week during the school year and leaders with the group plan to open it every weekday as soon as funding becomes available.
