Policy changes keep coming at South Whidbey schools
February 12, 2013 · Updated 2:16 PM
Following the initial ballot results for the South Whidbey School District’s levies, the school board will meet Wednesday night.
On the board’s agenda is the approval of the jazz bands’ trip to Idaho. Both the South Whidbey High School and Langley Middle School jazz bands will travel to the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival from Feb. 21-24.
There will also be a lengthy workshop to review and update six policies. The board continues to review its policies, spearheaded by Board Member Jill Engstrom, the board’s policy representative.
Among the policies are the school calendar, safety and civility in schools, parent or community complaints concerning staff or programs, authority to solicit donations and conduct fundraising in support of education, bid requirements and accountability goals.
The board meets at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 13 at the school board room at the South Whidbey Primary Campus, 5476 Maxwelton Road.
