It's now a three-way race for the District 1 seat on the Island County board of commissioners. Democrat Helen Price Johnson filed as a candidate in the race Thursday afternoon.

With Price Johnson in the running — incumbent Republican Phil Bakke and unaffiliated candidate Curt Gordon filed to run earlier this week — the three candidates will square off in the August primary. The two who get the most votes will advance to the general election in November.

Also on Thursday, Democrat Angie Homola filed to run against incumbent Mac McDowell for Island County commissioner in District 2.
