Planning group to meet for South Whidbey schools' future

March 15, 2013 · Updated 2:38 PM

Peering into a crystal ball of school enrollment projections and trends will fall to a group of 24 South Whidbey residents.

South Whidbey schools’ futures will be honed by the school district’s long-range planning committee Monday, March 18. It will be the second of three scheduled meetings, and the school board will attend the meeting. Only Board Chairman Steve Scoles is on the committee, and the other four board members may participate as observers.

At the first meeting, all five board members attended. The result was a division of interests, of which the sub-groups will report on later. Guiding the school board and Superintendent Jo Moccia is the committee’s aim — to form a plan about improved accountability and support, increased community partnerships, effective use of resources, district-wide focus and program and curriculum management.
